Guided Snowmobiling in the Greys River

With high amounts of snow, riding along the banks of the icy Greys River is one of Jackson Hole’s best-kept secrets. Spend an awesome day in the powder with a professional guide for the best snowmobiling in the area.

This tour is a full day that follows the Greys River to fabulous play areas at McCain Meadows and Blind Bull in the Wyoming Range. The trailhead is about 20 minutes from the lodge, and you can leave your vehicle in the designated parking area. Sleds and full gear included.

Self Guided Snowmobilingthe Greys River

Grab a map, rent a sled, and create your own self-guided tour through the Greys River Drainage in Wyoming. About 20 minutes from the Lodge, this is one of the most popular trails and goes for miles and miles. You will pick up your self-guided sled in neighboring Alpine, WY. Deep snow, winter wildlife, and endless scenic backdrops paint your trail! An endless playground awaits amidst the mountains for you and your sledding party!

Cross Country Ski Trails
in Swan Valley

Cross Country Ski Trails abound in the area. Some beautiful trails are only a few miles from the Lodge.

Palisades Creek Trailhead, just down the road from the lodge – rough trail but exquisite scenery with a lake about 4 miles in.

Fall Creek Campground – is About 7 miles north down the main highway, where you cross the Snake River, take a left, and in 2 miles, you hit the campground. Ski along the river to get to Creek Campground – Bonneville County grooms Fall Creek Campground for cross-country skiing.

Bear Creek Trail – is about 6 miles south of the lodge. Go till you get to Palisades Dam and park in the parking lot at the top, then ski south on the Groomed snowmobile trail.

Skiing & Snowboarding Grand Targhee

Carve yourself a line in some awesome powder over at our neighboring ski and snowboard playland, Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, WY. Creek Trail

Take a gander at a little snowshoeing close to the lodge at the Palisades Creek Trail. The perfect little hike with a picturesque frozen lake at the end of the snowshoe trail about 4 miles in. Kelly Canyon

Take in a local’s favorite while visiting River Retreat Lodge and ski or snowboard at Kelly Canyon Ski Resort. The resort is located about 40 minutes down the highway in Ririe, Idaho, and hosts some fantastic ski lessons for beginner and intermediate skiers and has a family-friendly atmosphere for skiers of all ages. Kelly Canyon is well known for its Night Skiing, with most of the hill lit for a unique winter experience. Their grill also offers some fantastic fare during your ski excursion. Soothe the ache away at Heise Hot Springs, approximately 30 minutes from the lodge. Simply relax and warm up from the frigid temperatures in one of their hot pools of about 104 degrees Fahrenheit, the natural mineral hot springs are ideal for a winter’s afternoon soak.
